Melty Mates finally has a name!
The idea in one sentence: in Melty Mates, paint does not hurt. It makes you melt. Take too much paint and you slowly soften, slump and turn into a puddle. Your teammates then have a short window to grab their water sprayers and rinse you back before you melt completely.
Why rescue?
Most shooters are about taking players out. We want the best moments in Melty Mates to be about saving someone: the dash across the deck, the last-second rinse and the whole team cheering when a puddle becomes a friend again.
It also keeps the game friendly. There is no blood and no gore, just colorful paint, clean water and a lot of silly moments.
Where we are
Melty Mates is in early development. We have an early prototype where painting, melting and water rescue already work in local two-player tests. Right now we are designing the first arena, a giant amusement-park ship, and building the Rinse Crew characters and their gear in 3D.
What comes next
- Finishing the ship and the Rinse Crew characters
- The first playtests with real players
- Short videos from development
- A Steam page you can wishlist
Thanks for being here this early. It means a lot.
